i thought many of us had come to the conclusion that Syn doesnt have the ability to keep particulate matter in suspension, allowing cmkenna's famous "cajun crust" to bake onto everything in the engine. read this thread

use valvoline or castrol dino

Castrol GTX 10w30 is the only oil I use in mine and she runs amazingly smooth.

i just did the rocker arms on my truck and the heads have NO CRUST on them at all. 120,000+ miles on this motor. i run 10w30 valvoline.
the original motor ran for 187,000+ miles and when i took it apart it had LOTS OF CRUST AND CRUD!! i ran castrol syentic 10w30 full synthetic for the last 100,000 miles of that motor. i change my oil between 3000 and 5000 miles like clock work. when i had to replace the motor it was due to sludge build up in the oilpan and blocked the pickup on the pump. ill never use synthetic oil again!

Bought this worked hard work truck little less then a year ago cheap with a horriable ticking and a loud knock. Have done 4 oil changes with Amsoil 10/40 the tick is gone and the knock is quieter. 2X SYN FOR THE WIN.

I am using Mobil 1 full synthetic in the '07 R/T and in my daughter's '03 Turbo Cruiser. I noticed an immediate improvement in performance on the R/T when this oil was installed. It seems almost effortless for the truck to start and accelerate. I use Valvoline MaxLife synthetic blend in my '03 Dakota and '03 Durango(both 4.7s). I also just put it in my daughter's '02 Grand Cherokee(4.0). I like the synthetic, and if it is changed at around 5K, I don't believe crusting or sludge will be an issue............
