Default New Truck is Throwing Some Codes

Hey guys, I got a new truck back in January and its been pretty solid until today. Its a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.9. Like I said no major issues until today.

I was driving home this afternoon and right before I got there I noticed that my CEL was flashing while I was on the throttle. As soon as I let off it quit flashing and went off. Later tonight I made a trip to the store and halfway there the light came back on but stayed on this time. I did the key trick and this is what I got:

P0300-cylinder misfire
P0302-cylinder #2 misfire
P0307-cylinder #7 misfire

I'm going to check my plugs and what not in the morning. Is there anything specifically that I need to look for? And what kind of problems am I looking at?

It's your cat, it's clogged. The clogged cat is causing your truck to misfire. Fix the cat and you fix the misfire...

I got a P0305 a few weeks ago that kept going on and off. Believe it or not I added about 3/4 gallon of antifreeze to the radiator and over flow jug. And POOF... the light code went away and has not been back on since. Was told it had something to do with the coolant temp sensor.

I would check the plugs, cap, rotor and coils.

Not on the same subject but did you ever finish the bumper you were building a while ago edlucky1? I was following because I wanted to build the same bumper you were but then I lost track.

Is there a way to check if the cat is clogged? I've read that other people have had similar problems, and all they needed was new plugs or a coil. I'm going to take a look this afternoon so is there anything specifically that I should look for? If I had a code reader would I be able to monitor certain sensors and narrow it down that way?

It's finished, just needs some paint. I have the bumper built and I'm debating whether or not to add a grille guard or something like that to it. Other than that I just haven't been able to paint it. I had it on my old truck for a while, but when it started raining I took it off.

Pull the pre-cat O2 sensor, and see if the truck runs any better.

OK I will try that as well, the truck actually runs fine. I don't notice it running any different than before. So if I pulled the O2 sensor would that tell me if it's the cat or not? I'm just trying to figure out how everything works and is related to my problem.

It will set an O2 code with the sensor out, but, if it runs better with that nice hole right before the cat, that is a pretty good indication that the cat is clogging up. (it will be louder too.....)
