A 55 watt HID H3 kit can be bought for $35.

Uh, did you disregard everything I said?

A 35 watt HID is far brighter then a 100 watt halogen bulb.

I'm a little late into this one, but I've been up north. I'm going to have to agree with Big Red on this one. I know normally his way is always the top notch way to do things, that a lot of people don't have to money to do it, and need a cheaper alternative that is still decent, but in this case $100 for a 9" HID is a good price, I wish I would have found them before I bought mine. Don't get me wrong, I love how mine perform, but HID would be even better. I paid $110 for each pair of 6" 100w KC Daylighters from Summit, and KC come with a 26 year warranty.

his point...how many times are you going have have to spend $20 to replace the halogen bulb before you would have to replace an HID? not to mention as he mentioned the performance difference

Given that average lifespan of a halogen bulb can run 6000+ hours..... probably not very many.

Its a matter of budget, and intended usage. If you have the money to spring for "the best", by all means, go for it. I, for one, certainly do not have that kind of a budget.

Yeah your argument just kind of hit a brick wall. HID's are superior in every way to halogen lamps. Not to mention cheaper in the long run.

I'm surprised that nobody here even mentioned that its possible to convert a halogen lamp to HID.. lol

Neither is $100. The real world costs money. Get used to it. What do you pay every time you fill up your tank?

Almost that.

I don't fill my tank because the bank won't loan me that much money.

The inexpensive lights work just as well in the 'real' world, for their INTENDED PURPOSE. 99.99% of us aren't racing.

But anyway....... Of course you are always right. Spend HUGE piles of cash. After all, it's only money. Everyone knows everyone has a printing press in the basement, right?

I'm out.

Most people who use HID lamps aren't racing.. They're just smart.
