I went with the Pace Setter shorties gained about 5 hp not gonna lie. The MPGS went up alittle bit. Those combined with the Magnaflow Hifolw Cat and the new Bosch o2 sensor and the cold air intake. Probably gained 10 hp total. I spent a lot of money for that little of a gain but I am impressed.
No dyno but I know the power differences in my truck been driving it too long.

If you don't have emissions testing, Jegs (and others...) offer an "off-road" y pipe, that flows MUCH better than stock. (no cat.) If you have to have the cat, get a single in, single out, and splice it in there. (y-pipe has provisions for pre-cat O2)
Still need to run all the exhaust down the passenger side. I haven't looked real closely, but, I don't think there is room for a pipe down the drivers side...... and I hear rumors that having the O2 in just one pipe causes some issues.

Long tubes wont work, there would be too much heat on the tranny and transfer case. The stock y pipe dosent look like much of a problem to me. Its no different than a aftermarket setup. I coukld be wrong though. But I am happy with what I got it works for me.
