it's happening...
Driving down the freeway this morning at about 55 mph and the whole truck tanks on power like the engine went dead. It then picks back up and keeps rolling.
Check the gauges, no CEL flashing, no drop in voltage, etc. Check the a/f ratio, everything appears fine.
I think the trans let go for a moment.
Now I have to assess if its just the OD unit, the TC, or something worse. 108,000 miles, damnit. I was hoping for 40,000 more and I could dump this pig.
Now the question becomes, do I rebuild it (not myself, I have no patience for that kind of work, nor the time right now) or do I ****-can it and get a new vehicle?

i would hit up a trans shop the will look at it for free, they hook the computer up and go for a ride

Wasn't fuel, the engine was still running strong. Didn't get a look at the RPMs on the gauge as it happened so quickly.
Best way to describe it was it felt like a significant misfire/ backfire but not involving the engine.

Hmmm, TC non lockup would throw a code. That mileage is about right for a TC to go completely. At that mileage I had to replace my TC and gov pressure sensor solenoid.
Check your transfer case as well. Sometimes the tailshaft seals leak and they go bone dry. Happened with my 1996 and the binding in the Tcase caused major problems with the tranny. If the tcase is not good it won't jive well with the tranny.

No t case on the 2wd.
And its only a vehicle, no sense getting married to it. I never mod a vehicle thinking Ill get something out of it in return.
I want to rule some stuff out first, so I think ill pull the plugs and replace the cap and rotor to be sure.

Unless you have vast mechanical knowledge, that is vehicle specific, you don't ever want to buy a modded vehicle. Unless you know the vehicle and the mods.
My 2001 was BONE STOCK when I got it. I would not want it any other way.
