Well i do know that when it is in 2wd I am able to spin front D/S by hand. So when it is in 2wd I know its truely 2wd

That's just..... odd.

After doing a bit of research..... seems it IS possible to transplant 231 guts into the 242 case..... No clue just why someone would do that though.......

Cracked the case on something, but the internals were still good?

that happened to me and i got a 231 amc case from a jeep for free, and it was the same size as my 231d so i swapped the internals around abit and it works like a charm now
