Thanks for all your replies, changed coil. Started up and ran for about five minutes then stopped, now wont start again. Any more ideas on what to do next?

what brand of coil did you use? did you get a good solid connection to the bottom of it with the wiring clip? They usually have one of those weather proof boot thingies on it that can make securing them a little difficult, add to that the fact it's hard to actually see where it is at.

If it ran with the coil, and then stopped, it's kinda hard to move to something else before it's running again.. Have you checked the relays/fuses? Is your coil wire (the one leading to your dist cap) in good condition w/o hitting anything really hot?

I replaced the coil. It ran perfect, like a ram should haha for about a minute... then it started running real rough for about 5 min. It died out again and will only fire and die again...but it seems to want to run now...Fuel pump/filter maybe? I dont hear the pump with the key on.

oops someone already wrote a short answer for me haha didnt see ur reply. the coil came from Napa. As far as i can tell the connection is good, everything was clean. Spark plug and coil to distributor wires all look like they are in good condition. I had replaced plugs and wires a few years ago and the wires were clipped in the factory locations.

Couldn't hurt to check your fuel pressure. there is a test port on the driverside fuel rail. should be around 48 or 50 psi.

Thanks for all your answers, Im making much better progress now, I appreciate the help. i dont have the tools to properly test the fuel pressure. On Wednesday night after work, i tried starting the truck again, it started right up but died about 10 seconds later. I tried again and hit the gas before it died out a second time. It wouldnt stay running under 2000 rpm so i kept it up around 2500 for a minute or so. When i took my foot off the gas it ran at a rough idle around 1250 rpm down to almost dying out, it ran like that for maybe 5-6 minutes. I started it back up and kept it above 2000 rpm for another minute or so, when i let off it was idling smooth at around 750 rpm like it usually did. It stayed running smooth long enough to get up to temp so i tried to move it (the tow truck dropped it so it took up too much space) and it died out after backing 10 feet or so. It wouldnt start agian after it died. I tried again after 5 min, it ran long enough to move back and about a minute after, running smooth. After a minute or so it ran rough and idle dropped lower and lower untill it was showing 0 rpm but still struggling to stay running. It would do the same after sitting about 5 min, run then die, it died out if i put my foot on the gas when the idle rpm started dropping. I do hear the fuel pump now, whining louder than ive ever heard it.

Just swap one of them with another. Two you are concerned with are ASD, and fuel pump relay. Just swap 'em with like the wiper, or blower motor relays, and see if anything is different.

i checked both the ASD and fuel relays with the starter relay, both operated the starter. The truck is back to not running again.

are the relays back in their original positions? If they are, swap things around, and leave 'em that way for a couple days. (or, until the problem repeats itself.)
