Default upgrades

I am getting a camper that is 32' and wanted to know of any upgrades I could need. The camper is around 7000 pounds. Have an supermarket cooler with the check ball deleted on my 99 with the 360. Is there anything else I should do to help preserve the tranny? I am planning on adding a trans temp gauge. Every 6 months to a year, depending on how much I tow, I have the trans serviced and bands adjusted.

If the rebuild was done with quality parts, and a better than stock torque converter..... make sure the rest of the drivetrain is up to snuff, (plenum fixed, timing chain and gears, ALL maintenance attended to..... tune up chiefly...) and seriously consider getting an SCT tuner.

With the cooler you already have, and a gauge to monitor temps, you should be golden. Make sure you mount the sensor for the trans temp gauge on the output side of the cooler lines, so you have an idea of what internal trans temp is.

An external filter wouldn't hurt either.

DO NOT tow in overdrive..... that'll smoke your trans right quick.

sounds like u have the tranny covered, if your gonna tow a-lot ,might look at some different Gear ratio , might help with towing and make it easier on the trans

Oversized trans pan with cooling fins (if alum) or tubes. My PML pan is 2qt extra capacity. I saw not only a decrease in normal operating temps, but also a noticable reduction in how long it takes to heat up the fluid during times that I am towing or hauling loads.

One minor note of caution though, an extra capacity pan can be a double edged sword. The added fluid means it takes longer to heat the extra amount of fluid up, so you are usually pumping cooler fluid through the trans. That's the good part. The bad part is, if you overheat, the reverse is true (takes longer to cool down that extra fluid). But if you are monitoring your temps, then you should never let it overheat anyway.

x2 gears will help the best when towing hands down.

I have 3.55s in the Dana 60 on my Ram 2500, I bought a set of 4.10s and my gear installer told me I would end up having to tow in OD, not good, so I never installed them. Glad I didn't. Right now with OD off, at 65 - 70 mph I'm in the RPM sweet spot.

Sure the grears would help get up to speed, but once there...Hello RPMS.

You'd be looking at about 300 rpm higher is all.
