What do your spark plugs look like? Is the dodge system like the gm system, in that there is an ignition module the coil packs plug into? Perhaps one of those is shorting and causing the trouble?

What about the camshaft sensor? In the 4.7L that is a common issue (moisture from humidity) and it always goes back to the cam sensor.

Also, it could be that you need to clean out your entire throttle body and clean or replace the IAC. If you clean the IAC don't push the end in.

So is everybody ready...it started.

First it ran real rough then smoothed out after a short trip. I took it to autozone to see if it was showing any codes but there was nothing there. I wish I knew what this issue was to fix it once and for all. Now I just have to wait for the next damp day for it not to start again and throw some parts at it.

I was thinking about the cam and crank sensors after finding the coil packs were ok. The cam sensor I can actually see on the timing cover. The replacement procedure I read in the service manual kinda scared me about replacing it though.

Does this have a Crankshaft Position Sensor? I can not find it listed in the manual.

Well the spark plugs I removed looked fine, Tanish in color. There are ten of them and Im kinda lazy after the first ones looked ok.

Im not sure about the system itself. There is a plug on the bottom of the coil packs. A 4 prong male end on the 6 wire pack and a 3 prong male end on the 4 wire pack. I will try to follow those wires to see where they go and their condition.

A month or so back this wouldn't start at all and I replaced the IAC and the TPS at the same time and it fired right up. It acted totally different from today. It wouldn't try to catch and stumble, there was only cranking there. I did do a fair job on cleaning the throttle body I think while I had it out.

At that time it was suggested to me that I may have some vacuum leaks but have been unsuccessful finding any. My cruise control is not working and I never looked into fixing it. I don't know if that could have anything to do with it, I'm just trying to go over everything.

Thanks

Instead of waiting for the next damp day, get yourself a spray bottle with some water in it, start the truck, and squirt various items, see what happens.

They should head back to the PCM
the pins on the 4 prong are
Cyl 1/6
cyl 7/4
cyl 3/2
B+

the 3 prong
Cyl 5/10
B+
cyl 9/8

the crank shaft pos sensor is on the passenger side in the middle of the engine block about level with the oil filter base.

Hi all again. So after a few damp rainy mornings the truck wouldnt start again. Last Sunday I crawled in to figure it out. I removed all of the plugs and wires. I found some of the ones I didn't take out were fouled and dark. I had Bosch platinum plugs in there along with Bosch premium wires. I replaced all of them with some Autolite cheapo plugs. Cleaned up the wires and dabbed some dilectric grease in each end and it fired up immediatly. The wet plugs from trying to start it repeatedly was my original issue, fouled. I didn't write down which cylinders were the dark ones that looked like blow by but there were four of them. I figure I will have to compression test all of the cylinders now but could my motor be going or could it have just been bad plugs. Thanks again to everyone that has helped me so far. I appreciate it.

Our motors don't really like the platinum plugs....

Have you fixed your plenum yet?

no plenum issue on the v-10
I use the good old Champion copper plugs the truck came with, (the number escapes me right now). I tried some other types and my truck didn't like it very well.
Were they dark with oil or dark with heat?
