O2S won't perform self-test?
Does anyone know how to get this sensor to become ready for emissions testing? I've looked around and all I have found is just generic OBD-II drive cycle information. I've performed all of the generic ones that I have found, and I have driven about 50 miles so far and the I/M monitor on my code reader still states that the O2S sensor is not ready for emissions testing. I have driven in the city, on the highway, gave it the gas, etc. Nothing has seemed to work so far ... I have to get this truck emissions tested within a few weeks, otherwise I have to get an EPA voucher and I just don't feel like dealing with them right now. Thanks in advance!
Are you only driving short trips, like a few miles? Have to put some miles on during a drive cycle, Just keep driving it. Sometimes it takes a few hundred miles. Also make sure its going into close loop or you will never run monitors. Keep us update.
Yeah, it does live data. It's an Innova 3130. (Equus) I don't see anything in the manual about closed loop. Could I check the information from another sensor to at least hint if it is going into closed loop? It gives me 95% of all the live data I could ever use, STFT/LTFT, IAT, O2 Voltage, Coolant Temps, etc.
From what I understand about open and closed loop from the FSM it depends on the temp of the motor it goes to closed loop at around 180* if you have a cooler T-stat that could be your issue. I would look into that.

At key-on, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
sends out a regulated 5 volt signal to the ECT sensor.
The PCM then monitors the signal as it passes
through the ECT sensor to the sensor ground (sensor
return).
When the engine is cold, the PCM will operate in
Open Loop cycle. It will demand slightly richer airfuel
mixtures and higher idle speeds. This is done
until normal operating temperatures are reached.
The PCM uses inputs from the ECT sensor for the
following calculations:
² for engine coolant temperature gauge operation
through CCD or PCI (J1850) communications
² Injector pulse-width
² Spark-advance curves
² ASD relay shut-down times
² Idle Air Control (IAC) motor key-on steps
² Pulse-width prime-shot during cranking
² O2 sensor closed loop times
² Purge solenoid on/off times
² EGR solenoid on/off times (if equipped)
² Leak Detection Pump operation (if equipped

the injector pulse width by turning the ground circuit
to each individual injector on and off.
² The PCM monitors the O2S sensor input and
adjusts air-fuel ratio. It also adjusts engine idle
speed through the idle air control (IAC) motor.
² The PCM adjusts ignition timing by turning the
ground path to the coil on and off.
² The PCM operates the A/C compressor clutch
through the clutch relay. This happens if A/C has
been selected by the vehicle operator and requested
by the A/C thermostat.
