For $2-3000 in used parts, a lot of time and a ton of knowhow, you could built a decent setup that would run circles around most 4x4's on here.

freaking Autotrader doesn't like hot links, I couldn't grab the image URLs either.

Basically you can get 1999 four door quad cab 4x4s all day in Florida for less than $5k..

They had singles for cheaper. High mileage.

Though if you could find a badly wrecked Ram 4x4 you could do the swap.

You would need a donor truck.

Check out autotrader.com and search the truck you want and click on advanced options select drivetrain and select 4wd.

I'm with everyone else, I'd sell truck and buy one that's already 4x4 and has a V8. Itd save you a lot of time, hassle, few bruised knuckles and beer.

You could put a locker in the rear, re-arc the springs, taller than stock off road tires, and find a long arm suspension kit for the front as well as fiberglass front fenders to go with a pre-runner style truck. If your not running in deep mud or crawling nasty rock trails, living in florida, you'd do fine and have a unique looking truck to boot.

All we have to do with 4x4s in the south is run them through mud.

Its why I won't get another one unless I live somewhere with trails. I've killed three mudding.

Paid 3500 for my truck off craigslist and this is what it looked like all it needed was the a headlight switch and the steering center link. It had 36x12.50x16.5 military tires, fender flairs, pace setter headers, 5.9l, automatic and power everything. the onbly things i had done to it in this pic was give it a bath and paint the grill, front bumper, and back bumper black.

I would be alittle worried about a v6 in a full size truck. Straight would be okay, but not a v6. I agree with most of these guys, just buy a 4x4. A buddy spend $8,500 4x4ing a passenger van, but he needed to haul a trailer and 7 people around. No reason to do that to a full size truck with a v6
