How do i install a camshaft position sensor

Unhappy How do i install a camshaft position sensor

like the title says lol i need help

Its under the distributor cap. Its a drag to get to...... cleverly concealed behind the engine, under the cowl....... Pull the cap off. Sensor is right there.

its what appears the be the bottom plate under the dist cap. its sort of a false bottom and looks like this...

some people place a big piece of plywood across the fenders and crawl up on it. i've not tried that yet, but will someday.

Funny thing about these, i can fix them with my eyes closed. I replace 4-5 of them. Stupid i know but i thought something was causng them to blow out, was out of state so could get to my echanic. Turned out to be the timing chain.

The easiest way i found was to remove the air cleaner, take a screwdriver undo the three(?) screws,take of the cap/rotor, reach down the sensor is just laying in there unplug, replace with new one. Just make sure you have it facing rightside up at the right angle, only lays one way(correctly)

Sorry i just had alot of problems with it.

i thought that was the CRANKshaft position sensor? i might be wrong? when i had to replace the camshaft position sensor it was in the back of the motor on the driverside and it was a pain in the *** it looked something like this and it was held on by two allen head bolts? but thats what i was told to replace and it took care of the problem i could be wrong but yeah thats all i was told

^the picture in Joey's post is the crankshaft position sensor, and installs where he said, in the bell housing.

yeah thats my fault i wasnt thinking clearly and mistaked the CAM for the CRANK so dont listen to me lol! but for future refrence if you have to replace it you will know what it looks like and where its located at sorry my fault...

I have replaced both lol needed the crank sen after my timing chain replacement. That was a major b****.
