Default New 4" lift installed!!

Just put on a Rancho 4" suspension lft and 33x12.5x15's mounted on Rock Crawler soft 8 wheels. Yeah, she's a 2WD but I really wanted the clearance of a 4x4. Here's some before and after pics...

Looked like this when I bought it back in Dec 04...

Next with cap removed and tonneau installed...

Here with the 4" lift and 33's...

The kit itself is Rancho RS6274. It came with new coil springs, subframe, spindles, ext front brake lines, rear blocks/u-bolts,shocks,front/rear bump stops and a bunch of hardware. I did the install by myself and highly suggest air tools and good floor jacks (2). My install pretty much sucked due to my truck being 9 years old and everything underneath being pretty rusted. It took me 3 hrs alone to get the front shocks off of mine due to corrosion. The rest of the install was uneventful other than having to replace the steel brake line that goes from the driver to passenger rubber brake lines. I also had to replace both my tie rod ends and passenger side upper ball joint so that took me a bit of time. Rancho says it should take 8 hrs to install (yeah right!). If your truck is not too rusted or new and you have another set of hands then maybe. The biggest thing to remember is to take your time and soak the hell out of every bolt/nut that will need removed with liquid wrench. Let it sit 24-48 hrs before starting. Also, make sure and double check your part numbers...They sent me the wrong shocks for my front end so I'm just waiting for those to arrive and my install is complete.

Ahh cool thanks for the detailed post. I am looking to lift the front up on my truck. I dont like the droop. I have the lift block from the factory in the rear and the front just aint right. lol. I think Im going to go with the 2 inch spacer till I get back to the USA and can order a lift kit via ups. being in germany I cant get more than 70 pounds and it has to be mailed through the post office. UPS ships to germany but its like 10x the cost and I have to pay taxes to the german government. So screw them ill wait.

Anyhow great job and I hope you enjoy it.

Default Wheels and backspacing help!

Great looking truck. I hope you can you help. I just installed a Rancho rs6274 lift on my 96er 2wd and I was wonder do you remember what tires and wheels you used. The backspacing is really what I need. And yes it was a really PITA, new ball joints, upper and lower bushings and coil spring isolators. They say 8 hours, try 3 weekends.
