That was my response, too. But here are the two I've seen:

I went out one morning to find my tailgate down and the cable on the open hinge side removed from the anchor -- if it weren't for the tailgate padlock over the open hinge I'd instead have found myself without a tailgate.
Hooray for city life. I can hardly wait to get moved back out again in a few weeks.
Car stereos will unbolt, too, but thieves always remove them with a pry bar leaving the dash repair more costly than the stereo replacement. Same for cats, which are removed with cordless cutting tools. Unfortunately, pickup trucks are a favored target because with more room underneath the work goes faster.

Blame our justice system for being to easy on criminals.Back in the day,you stole a horse, they hung you.In some countrys you steal something, they cut your hand off.In my yard, you try to steal to something, you get 7.62 in your ***.
On that note, I came out to warm up my truck one morning and the rear slide was pried open on my truck. Some ******* stole my amp and sub. So for anyone with a 2nd gen rear slider I would suggest jamming it closed with some wood like I did to avoid them damn thieves easy access.

(I even have a set in the garage...... not a thief though.)
