Uh Oh
I regret to say that a large cottonwood tree did some extensive damage on my poor baby a couple weeks ago and after all the insurance stuff and what not I think my best decision is to sell what I have and buy something new.
My question is, what would my truck be worth? Mechanically, it is beautiful, not even a CEL after the wreck, I drove it home and then to the body shop. It just needs front end cosmetic parts. Hood, grille, bumper, side panel, etc but they wanted 9k for new parts, and like 6-7k for used, but I would rather not report it to insurance so I can keep a clean record. (They wouldn't help much anyway, would just declare it a total loss and write me a check for 4k.)
It has:
Rock solid 360, perfect 46RE (with new soleniod, sensor, and filter), and transfer case.
Anybody have an idea? Ballpark?

hang on, if its driveable, you may be getting bad advice from the first shop.
drive it to several other body shops and get additional repair estimates. say to them - no insurance/ out of pocket/ i don't have a lot of money/ keep the cost down/ lowest cost estimate... they understand this to mean that you're not wanting an inflated estimate, but a down to earth, real world COMPETITIVE estimate to repair your truck.
next - was any other vehicle involved? if so, check into their liability.
next - do you have full coverage. if so, you might can file a limited claim that can avoid total, or at least recover the "total" cost (which is more than the salvage cost)
unless you have a terrible driving record - don't worry about keeping your record clean. past claims fade away after about 3 years and there's little benefit in a clean record.
to answer your original question - what is a parted out 1500 worth with a good transmission. shipping costs can be prohibitive, but assuming you're near a metro area with some customers - i'll guess you might get 300 for motor, 300 for trans, 200 for tcase, another 500 for misc stuff, and another 500 for the remaining scrap metal cost. what's the total....1800. otherwise the intact price for a wrecked truck is probably 500-1000.

Did you hit a tree or did it fall on you? It will count as a claim, but depending on insurance company might not jack your rates too bad if it fell. What about claiming, accept the total, then buy it back with a salvage title and hit the junk yards with the diff to build her back up. Pics would help
