Default problems with engine cylinder test

i'm doing a compression test on my 98 5.2 ram. took all the plugs out unhooked coil wire, and fuel. hooked tester to cylinder 1 cranked it 5 times pressure built up, but left the tester rapidly. i did same thing on all the cylinders, and same result. is it a faulty gauge, or is there a major problem here?

the tester should hold the pressure reading until you push the release button to re-zero the gauge. sounds like a faulty tester.

ya it was the tester. got new tester it read 155 psi accross the entire engine, with dry test it must be the valve guide seals that is burning the oil. thanks for the input.

155 is very good. congrats.

if you're losing oil and you've never fixed your plenum.... then that's likely the problem.

Get your PCV valve from the dealer. The aftermarket ones flow too much. (and burn oil.)
