Default Got a problem with my center console

Well, I was adjusting my pin for my center console when the cover accidentally closed and now I can't get it open. I have tried muscle, I don't have much but that didn't work. I tried prying but that didn't work.

I was adjusting to add my new fangled aftermarket cup holder.

BTW..it is a 98 dodge ram SLT automatic

Maybe try a plastic putty knife? You could run it in the crack where the latch is and manually use it. Not sure if that would work, if I get a chance I'll go out there and try it. =)

I don't think it will work. The way the latch is designed you can't get at the pin.

You're right ... I just tried it and no dice. If anything it looks like doing that would simply tear up my putty knife and break the thing all together. I'm not sure of any other ideas short of going out there and pulling out the pin myself, then closing it ... I love helping people, but that's going too far!

Push down on the cover rather hard, and press in on the release. See if that will get it.

Got it open. Had to enlist the help of 2 friends, a screwdriver and muscle. It is open. Now to get the cupholder to fit and the console to latch. What a headache.

I had same problem, since I added the cupholder the lid never has been right since. Sometimes its really hard to open.

It kinda sucks.
