Default Rear Axle Swap from a 2005

I have searched, and found no answer.

Would a rear axle from a 2005 Ram 1500 swap into my 1997 Ram 1500?

If not, what was changed between the two years?

Thanks,
Ben

The 05 trucks used an entirely different axle than the 97. It would NOT be a direct bolt in....... I don't have all the particulars.

I've been thinking bout this very same swap. I think it would be possible if you took the new axle and one on yer truck down to a very good welder, so they could swap the mounting hard ware. Just a thought

I was hoping the welded part would be the same. And the ABS now does not work on the my truck.

Thanks
