Question Dash top replacement instruction questions

alright guys i got a entire replacement dash ...like the WHOLE thing... from a buddy of mine for a pretty good deal out of a 1998 ram to put in my 2001, theres no cracks in it except by the windshield so i epoxied it and rubber undercoating'ed the entire underside of it and the top of the front cracky part... ITS SOLID! anyways enough of my bragging... down to business

i was looking in my handy dandy pdf manual (courtesy of the forum ) and it says in order to take of the dash top you remove the glove box so you can remove the airbag and then remove the plastic bezel then the gauge cluster so you can essentially reach your hands in and detach all the stuff near the windsheild to remove the dash... does this sound right to you guys?
I was under the impresion that the whole dash would need removing and i think that^^^ seems reasonable

anyone done this? or works/ed for dodge and has done these replacements and knows?

thanks in advance for all help and advice

If it cracked by the windshield already, I'd by a new one that's UV resistance. Mine started to crack by the windshield 2 years ago. It held steady for a year, then it just started to crack everywhere. It's such a PITA to do, if it was me,I'd do the right way the first time around...do it nice or do it twice!!!

i attempted to remove mine.....quite difficult....i started putting more cracks in it....so i said screw it and left it....

i was going to bondo/fiberglass the whole underside since i had one crack near the windshield, and trying to take it out, i broke a chunk off, and made 4 other cracks.....and i wasnt even flexing the dash much either.

theres only one chunk that came completely off and was replaced and epoxied to hell, i have confidence in my undercoating helping it to stay together, and it feels very flexible like it hasnt aged (dont quite know how to explain it) i found a write up on replacing it and it doesnt look too bad to do if it has to be done again from now until i get a different dd or something

If you're changing the bottom half too you'll need the ashtray from the other truck, the back part of it is a little wider.

Got a spare bezel from that second dash? I'd love to buy that thing off of you if you do.
