My good friend has been very impressed with my recent 408 build. He too will run a stock cam with 1.7 rrs and compression in the 10 area.
Now our battle...he says that I wasted some big coin on a tune from B&G. He plans on running 27 to 28lb injectors with a Mopar Performance ECU. Claiming that with the stock cam all will be well. He also says that the ECU has the ability to add or subtract up to 30% of fuel delivery.
I say no buddy! You will be far better off with the tune. Who's right here?

You are. Sorta.

If he is going to build a big cube motor, even if he uses the EXACT same parts as you, without a tune, he is NOT going to make as much power as you. Sure, the computer CAN compensate to some extent, but, the idea is, that it shouldn't have to, to attain max efficiency. I will be surprised if he can get it to run reasonably well at all. He is making major changes to the engine, and not cluing in the PCM. OOops.
