Default HELP! What's this part in my tranny pan??

RESOLVED!! SEE LAST POST I MADE. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR HELPING ME WITH THIS, ESPECIALLY AIMS.

2001 dodge ram 1500 5.2L v8

Help! Was just doing a routine tranny oil change and when I took the pan out, found this part sitting in the pan!! My tranny is hard shifting from first to second gear and I was all set to replace the usual suspects (governor solenoid, temp sol etc) and found this thing. I can't find a picture of my tranny to see if I can figure out where it goes. it's about an inch long. help!

Thats the anchor "wedge" that goes on your front band.

a similar thread from the past, indicating that it can be repaired reasonable easy if you don't drive it to the point of failure.

As long as you have a LITTLE common sense, it's a very simple fix.

ok great. just got back with a new pressure solenoid. i removed the hex nuts that hold the valve body assembly but it's still held on there by the part that selects your tranny position (drive, reverse, etc). it's like a spring. i can't seem to remove it. any ideas? trying to get to the band without removing the entire tranny.

what i mean to say is that the valve assembly is being held by that black thing in the upper middle of this pic. this guy has it dissasembled. i just don't know how to dissamble it. do i remove the nut that sits outside the tranny? does the lever just slide out?

I believe that's called the rooster combo switch. There's an E Clip thats a PITA to install that you have to remove in order to remove the rod that's holing it in place.

Look at the section were AIMS is installing the sure cure kit. That'll explain it better.
