There are a couple folks on here (me included) running high volume pumps, that didn't do the hardened shaft at the same time.

Yes, the higher volume will give you better pressure.

alright man, i will prob end up doin it, just hate too since thats a brand new pump thats in there..Love this truck, always have, been thru alot with it, i have saved it and its saved me, so now im tryin to keep it going. Runs great as far as you can tell, but that gauge dont lie, not sure why its that low when only 112k miles on it. Also does the HV pump use the same pickup tube? thats brand new also. Thanks.
If it ever dies and i gotta get a new truck im gettin a cummins.

Yep, you can use the same pickup tube. I just cleaned out my stock one really well, and reinstalled it on the new pump.

Some folks will carve out the 'shield' around the screen some, to give a larger opening to suck oil in.... I didn't, and have excellent pressure, even at 167K.

How did you ground out the connection? Just wondering if the way i was thinking/told would work as well...

honestly, i just put a paperclip in it and taped it all up for now, in case later i wanted to hook the original back up, but you could easily just cut the connection off and tir the 2 wires together, same thing.

i've been told by lotsa old timers that dodges are known for having really low oil pressure at idle but it's always a concern watching/hearing that stupid "check gauges"/chime go off...was gonna do the same thing by grounding it, except a little more permanent...i've done the high volume pump also...didnt see a difference until i started using heavier oil...i should rephrase that...it was ok at first but the problem came back after a while, I know after 220 kms things in the bottom end aren't as tight as they were when it was new, so the 15w40 seems to help...hope it works out for ya...
