Exhaust - Opinion.
So right now I have stock everything basically on my 99 1500 ram, this is what im aiming for. Ive got two long tube headers already picked and then having true duals, meaning id need to cats (highflow perferably) then my pipes to go into an X after the cats and ending with two single inlet single outlet 10 series flowmasters, I know ridicoulousy loud but this wont be my street vehicle. Advice please, need some power and I know the faster air comes and leaves the more I get, Thanks!
I have a flowmaster 10 series forsale check it out. The 10 series is a very loud muffler.. I was all happy about it to for a while until my neighbor called the po po on me lol

i have heard a lo about flowmaster not having any performance gains they are just good for sound, i would try for somthin that was straight through since you have the headers why restrict the air flow, just puttin it out there, its only my 2 cents
my opinion and this is all that it is.....get the o2 sensores nearest the cats as you can otherwise they dont work right.. they dont get hot enough
and as far a flow from your engine the most significant changes you could make would be to the heads and cam.....after you do those 2 thats when the intake manifold an exhaust come into play...where the intake and exhaust really will make a difference
read up on it ...i bet there are more than 10000 articles on performance engine building you could find on the internet
i do like putting aftermarket exhaust on my truck mainly for the sound though...and i do the silly aftermarkets like k&ns underdrive pulleys ...gears would make a big difference though

the flowmasters 40 are 2 chambered mufflers and harder for the air to flow through, they sound good, flowmaster 10's are one chamber and sound good also

Cheaper and more efficient way to go is: x-pipe before a dual in/out hi flow cat. You put the front o2 in the x, and the post cat o2 in either outlet. The pre-cat sensor (which regulates air/fuel ratio) would be more accurate this way, and you dont have to spend the money on 2 cats.
i have heard the Aero Turbine 3030 and they sound way better than any flowmaster, in my opinion, check them out on youtube, they are on the expensive side but its a straight through muffler and will are to flow through easier, but if flowmaster is your choice they sound great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvsgo2HEG00 this is a video of a guy on the first gen forum with the AT3030 on his 5.2
