Default new guy from southern california

I have a 99 dodge ram V10. Which has primarily been my tow rig untill recently when my wife's car was totaled. She is now driving my 99XJ and I am driving the truck. Here is my problem the fuel gauge is broken and I have ran out of fuel couple times now. what is needed to replace myself?

Welcome to the site. It is either the sending unit or the gauge itself. I will move this thread to the second generation Ram section,

probably the sending unit inside the gas tank. look in the diy/sticky faq's at the top for the 01 service manual. its 99.9% correct for you. download that and look up the testing procedure for sending unit.

sending unit is integrated with the pump and filter, so its expensive. you can drop the tank or raise the bed. i'd rather raise the bed since it allows you to connect/test the system. dropping the tank handcuffs you.
