Default Cross-Year Transmission compatibility.

Have an 01 318 2wd with a cooked transmission. A friend of ours owns a farm and has a 98 318 with a blown engine and freshly rebuilt transmission and new Torque Converter.

Being that they are the same drivetrain, are there any TCM (computer) discrepancies to worry about, or are they pretty much the same?

Won't work unless you swap out all the electrical devices inside and the Governor body.

And the 98 wants to be a 2wd also. Or there will be more work to do.

It will bolt right up, no problem, but, the electrical connectors are different between years.

I guess my question then would be which years share electrical connectors?

For your 2001, a 2000 or 2001 will bolt and plug right in and work.
