I tried searching, but had no luck- How do you discern if you have a 98 or 98.5?

Trying to figure out if I have speedo gears or need to buy like a hypertech....

Look for the build date of the truck on the drivers door.

what's the difference in a 98 and a 98.5? I can guess either speedo gears or not. But what other differences were there?

Not sure that is entirely accurate..... the 98's came out in 7 or 8 of 97....... so, verifying the break point would be a REAL good idea.

Mines 6/98 . Didn't the 99s start being built around 8/98???

Lst time I looked for gears (last year when I had 35s), they were like 25 bucks. Now they are almost 50. I'll go see if I can get the dealer to do it for $50... thats a lot easier...

that happens a lot but it all depends on when it is built but that is nothing compared to this. a 85 d350 registered as a 94 3500 because that is the first year it was register.
