I don't think your radiator has a high enough cooling capacity.

So you don't think their is enough flow through it?

I just drove to work figured I would pull the stat and see what the temps run to check if the gauge might be bad and see what kindof temps I get. I haven't pulled it apart yet as I'm waiting for it to cool buying did check the temps again and got 160 top and bottom and about 197 at the stat housing.

Before heading to work I went on a drive and when I got home I temped it while running and got 160 top,175 bottom, and 205-7 at the housing. The gauge was reading about mid 0 on the 200 lettering. Which I figured is about 230+

I'm getting ready to dump water in then give it a go. I will test the tstat when I get home see if its a faulty stat.

Could just be a bad gauge. If that's the case I will buy a separate aftermarket gauge and use it. Just as long as the temp gauge sensor doesn't need to be hooked up for the comp to run right.

Good news it that after I replaced the temp sensor for the comp(the one by the stat housing) the truck dose run better.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the sending unit (the one that deals with the gauge) holds no bearing on what temp the PCM thinks you're at (it gets that info from the other sensor). So with an aftermarket gauge, you should be fine.

Correct, the passenger side sensor runs the gauge and the driver side one runs the PCM.

Well ran it a bit without the Tstat. Needle on the gauge had about a needle and a 1/2 width below the 200 mark. Temped with a gun about 140-144 top and bottom and about 174 at the housing.

I tested the Tstat and it started to open at about 190+/- and was just about all the way open at 200+/-. o the Tstat is prob ok but could be having issues at times or I might just have an air bubble which I don't know why all of a sudden it shows up.

I'm going to take it out for a good drive tomorrow after work see how it goes.

Is the stat opening all the way? I think mine might be sticking. The night I finished the plenum it ran great then next day was running like 210.

Actually looking at it and prying it open with a screwdriver and it's not open all the way. I got it to about 210 and it went about half way.. So bad stat it looks like.

I'll run it without for a day or 2 to make sure then put a new stat in and see how it go's.
