Well sorry about the long delay have been busy.

So I tried a couple Tstats and both seemed bad after testing. 1 barely opened with boiling water the 2nd opened about 3/4+ at about 200+.

I have the one that tested better in now and the gauge normally reads around just over 200 to about a needle with over 200. It does go up to the middle of the 2nd 0 in the 200 on the gauge and I've temped it with my hand gauge and it shows about 200 or so at the stat housing.... Not sure how accurate it is though.

Today on the way home from work it ran as usual but by the time I got home and sat at a couple lights it got just about past the 2nd 0 when I parked. My water was pushing over into the overflow a bit. I couldn't temp it as I dropped the temp gun.

So my drive is about 15-20min on average. 95% highway. So mornings its usually fine and stays about 200 or just a bit over. Home commute from work takes about 3min or so to get on the hwy and it's 65-70 for a bit then my exit to my house is about another 5min or so with 2 lights and this is where it usually acts up. Temp today was about 85 or so

I have had it twice now purge into the overflow after getting home and reading almost past the 2nd 0 on the 200.

So only thing I can think of is still a bad stat and not opening all the way or a bad radiator.

I'm leaning to the bad radiator as I had the temp climb up to the 2nd 0 as well without a Tstat.

Without the Tstat it seemed to have good flow but with the Tstat in and while at operating temp's it really didn't seem to flow reall good(but maybe it's just me).

 

Have you tried flushing the system? Or, taking it to a radiator shop to have it boiled out??

 

Haven't done that yet. Heard from a few that sometimes these new style plastic radiators get damaged when boiling out.

I'm not sure about the radiator anyways.. Heard that the company I got them from are not the best radiators and don't usually last that long.

 

How old is your radiator?

 

How many miles on the truck? I had a similar issue that turned out to be a faulty IAT.

 

Radiator is about a year old.

Truck has 162,856 miles. IAT ?

So I don't have a book with me to look up the location of the IAT. I'm planning on picking one up after work and changing it. Could you tell me where about its located?

Passenger side of the intake manifold, up toward the front. Its on the 'keg' part of the manifold.
