Default 5.9 12v CTD swap questions

So a long term science project for me is to rebuild a 5.9 Cummins motor to possibly put in my 1994 2500 4x4. I'm not doing this because it's cost effective, I'm doing it because it's interesting to me and I like to tinker. I may end up building the project motor just to buy a 12v truck with a blown motor but that's not as fun.

Either way if I do the swap in my truck I realize I would need a wiring harness, the fuel system/tank, mounts, tranny, transfer case, D70 rear, etc. My truck is paid off and I have PLENTY of time to do this project over the next couple of years and I refuse to purchase a new truck model because they are not as easy to work on and my truck is my hobby.

So, my questions are as follows:

1. If I purchase a 1994 or later Cummins 12v will it even mate up to the 6-speed NV5600 manual circa 1999-2001?

2. If I'm already getting another tranny to go with the CTD, is the NV5600 worth the effort to find and the price associated with it?

3. Is there a significant difference between the NV241D and the NV241HD transfer cases when coupled with the 5.9 12v?

4. Are the front coil springs different enough on the 5.9 12v to where I would have to swap them?

5. Which Cummins 12v fit in the 1994 trucks? Is there even a difference as long as it's a 12v from 1994 or later?

So, my questions are as follows:

1. If I purchase a 1994 or later Cummins 12v will it even mate up to the 6-speed NV5600 manual circa 1999-2001? Yes it will mate up. You will need to put a clutch in with the setup for the bigger input shaft on the nv5600 and i believe it will need a spacer or somethnig for the starter.

2. If I'm already getting another tranny to go with the CTD, is the NV5600 worth the effort to find and the price associated with it? Sorta, I like my 5 speed NV4500, The extra gear in a 6 speed is nice but its not a better OD. The gear splits 3 and 4. The NV4500 in my 96 is holding 600hp NO problem.

3. Is there a significant difference between the NV241D and the NV241HD transfer cases when coupled with the 5.9 12v? Not sure, I thing the input or output shafts might be different?

4. Are the front coil springs different enough on the 5.9 12v to where I would have to swap them? The 12 valve does whey more then the gasser so i would do it.

5. Which Cummins 12v fit in the 1994 trucks? Is there even a difference as long as it's a 12v from 1994 or later? Any cummins from a second gen will fit. They had 12 valve's and the 24valve. I believe the 1st gen 12 valve has the same engine mounts as the second gen 12 valve. The main difference in 1st gen 12 valve and the 2nd gen 12 valve is the injection pump. 1st gen 12 valve has a rotary VE injection pump. The 12 valve 2nd gen has a inline P7100 injection pump. Some say its a better pump but thats up to you to decide for yourself
Hope this answers your questions. If you have anymore questions pm me or post up.
