Needing to replace front hub bearing on passenger side of my 1996 1500 4x4. Calling @ the local parts houses want between 140.00-160.00 with a one year warranty. I also looked on line and can find them for @ 50.00 to 160.00. Not sure what the differance is in them. Example is Carpartswarehouse.com has two different ones. Any assistance would be great. Also @ how much would it cost in labour to do the job?

if you plan on keeping the truck longer than a year, get the expensive made-in-usa timken or national or skf or similar. check rockauto and amazon.com for best prices.

as said, the chinese bearings are junk.

 

the more expensive one is for a truck with FWAL your truck only has RWAL (rear ABS)

 

And Don't over tighten that bitch (axle nut). Or you will kill it. I replaced a U joint and 6 months later I was replacing a 1 half year old bearing at $250 bucks a pop.

 

Agreed, don't go cheap. You will regret it.

 

That bearing torques to like 185 right? How do overtighten them lol? There's somewhere online that sells them with a lifetime warranty for 60 or so.

 

You'd be surprised. With a nice breaker bar and cheater bar you can put lots of torque on it... you actually have to stop long before you would think even when using a torque wrench.
