Default 1998 Ram 1500 Seat Belt Problem

Ok so I have done some work recently changing the alternator. Then I found the problem after I started it up,the seat belts are stuck and will not come out.Any ideas as to why it happened or how to fix it?I already checked the fuse for it too.

I think that rams seat belts are not electrically controlled. They should have a little weight inside of them that when a accident happens swings a locking mechanism that stops the belt from coming out. Have you tried tugging on the belts with the truck on a good level surface.

On the second page there is a wiring diagram for the seat belts. If your truck is an extended cab the belts are electronically controlled. There is a solenoid in the upper part of the seat and a control timer under the center seat. It's a square black box, try tapping it or moving it a bit, I have read that sometimes they get stuck and triggers the solenoid in the seats to lock or it may need to be replaced.
I also read in another post a driver had the same problem after disconnecting the battery and had to drive it for awhile to get everything to reset, which is what I am trying as my driver side belt is locked.

Cool deal you learn something new every day. So if the switch goes bad it can lock up your seat belts, not function at all or run your battery down. So what happens if you wreck slid down the road on your roof and hit something busting the battery, does it drop you on your head? lol

Default Blackbox that controls stuck seat belts

After messing with the dealer for over 4 weeks and buying a new battery, They wanted 500.00 dollars to fix the problem, 375.00 or so for the blackbox and 150.00 for a speed sensor on the transmission that kept my check engine light on< I said no and picked truck up, they didn't charge me because of all the trouble, and came home, got on the internet and found Dodgepartscenter.com 800-598-5228 and ordered both parts for 127.00 $ and took the gamble, they fixed both problems for me ! One trick is take the front seat bolts clear out and loosen the back ones up almost until they come out, that way you can raise the front seat about 8 inches and get the black box out. I contacted National Highway Safety and could not get any help out of them, even though I only have 35,000 miles on my truck, it is like new ! Hope this helps, because everyone can not afford these big repair bills, the only thing that didn't work after I installed the blackbox was that the buzzer don't work, which I don't mind!
