Default Where to buy a new long block

Well my engine is dead. I have a bad pressure problem in the block and have oil coming out of the dipstick pipe.

So now on to my question, where should I get a remanufactured long block from? Right now my option is Napa, but I was hoping to find a good price and warranty from somewhere else.

In addition to those listed, I think jasper makes a reman engine. A friend has had his for 3 years or so and has had no problems. I also looked a while back on ebay and found "promar engines" in md... although that isn't close for you. Just depends on what you are looking for. Time to pickup the phone book and see whats down your way.

Jasper is really hit and miss on their quality control. I have had occasions where the 'new' jasper motor had a rod knock at first start up. (more than once......) I stopped using them.

Save some money and see if you can just rebuild the motor you have. Tear the motor down and see what all needs to be replaced and machined. If you do the work you can save alot over a reman engine.

try ebay, there is one seller in particular that offers a 5yr unltd mile warranty. here i spoke with him before deciding to do a 408. its an additional $300 for a roller engine, so make that $1795.

Personally I wouldn't touch a Jasper with a ten foot cattle prod. I have had two of their transmissions in a 1996 Dodge Intrepid, and they were both garbage. Neither of them lasted more than about 6,000 miles.

The crappy thing is, when I had the first one go out, they replaced it, but the warranty didn't start over. It carried on from where the first one left off. I didn't really feel like that was right.
