Default Can I remove the A/C?

I know I can get a belt that will work for this truck without A/C, but if I remove the A/C will it throw a code? What happened is the compressor is bad and I don't need/want to replace it, so I figured I would just yank it and scrap the parts, but I don't want to do that if the computer will throw a code. Any ideas?

I yanked mine , everything lines condenser and all . Filled the left over lines with silicone and installed the shorter belt . No Codes .

Sounds like I've got a project soon. I doubt this would add much horsepower, but would it add any? I assume it might add a few since it's less parasitic drag on the motor. (since my clutch is sticky too)

You won't gain any power. You will lose some weight though. Not that your truck will really notice........

I would leave the whole mess in there you never know when you may sell the truck or decide you want ac and removing all that stuff will make both options more fun. Besides for the pennies you might save on gas you wont make up the cost and bother of going through taking out the AC system. If you doo plan on doing it I would wait tell you decide to do a tune up or atleast replace the belt no need to toss a good belt out just yet.

It'll be June and you'll wish you had it. Fix the compressor, and get it working. Who knows, maybe you'll love being cool.
