Pull a plug, look inside the combustion chamber and try to see the dished part of the piston. I could see it with my engine on the stand so it is possible.

First, you have to make damn sure you actually have the 5.9. If you do, need to reflash the PCM for the larger motor. Hemifever could prolly set you up.

Yeah a 5.9L computer is a direct replacement for your 5.2 computer.

Year doesn't really matter on Magnums. They are pretty much all the same.

its very easy to tell if its a 5.9 or 5.2....just look at the crank pulley....if it is only the pulley its a 5.2, but if theres another ring behind the pulley its the 5.9

Dunno about that, the ECT set up is different. Not sure if it matters, but I think if he got a newer one (or older depending on his year) it could be looking for temp input on a different pin.

I.E. if he gets a PCM that is looking for 2 sensors for temp (ect and sending unit 94-96 models I think) and his truck is set up with the one sensor (97+ I believe) it could cause issues if the programming is looking for that info to come in from a different doorway.

I'd flash it to be safe, or get one that is from around the same year. Any 94-96 is interchangeable and 97+ for the rest.... if that makes any sense
