Default kegger mod, should I cut here?

what will happen / would any benefits be gained from cutting the TB opening to an oval shape? It's a 5.9, BTW, Iron ram heads and Hughes cam grind #9204 if that matters. still have the stock TB, I've been mulling the "poor man's TB" over and over to complement the setup...

i would say do it, nothing wrong with doing it, probably very little gains since the throttle body can only flow so much

Is there any benefit from this? What is the purpose of the little runner in the middle there? Has anyone tried this?

I still cannot fathom why "it would run like complete ***".

ive seen a few people do this and cant really speak for results as most people do the plenum at the same time. I modded a kegger for my r/t that i took away from my brother by just grinding down the runners all the way and smoothing everything i could touch and noticed way better take off during cruising speed. I had no lag when i put the pedal to the floor. I say go for it and cut it out.

well Im also doing the Hughes plenum and cutting the runners and injector ports. I notice the M1 is a big oval, but the AirGap is still 2 holes. Does the Hughes have that small divider wall between the holes as well? Im really trying to understand the airflow properties of this thing in order to determine the best mods and the end results from each mod.

all in all, will this actually do anything or just waste some time and make more work?

The TB gasket will sit funny unless it's trimmed to match the outline. IIRC, it conforms to the shape, dual circles and all.

I kinda figured on matching the gasket to the opening.

So once the air passes the venturi in the TB bores, it just fills the plenum. Thats why the spacer does nothing. I did see a photo where the holes were extended by welding 2x tubes about 4" long. This one also had an aluminum filler plate as well.

Edit: ok, so I came across a pic kinda like I was talking about. and his explanation behind it.

reducing plenum volume - I've read of turtles being used, etc.
But looking at that huge plenum, I thought there must be a way
to reduce it a lot more significantly than using a turtle, and to
do it more effectively than by filling it with epoxy. SO came up
with the idea of contouring a flat piece of aluminum to fit around
the runners and welding it into place, along with pieces at the
ends to block off the corners in the plenum where there's got to
be dead spots in the flow, and maybe also some pieces to further
reduce the volume along the edges of the large center opening.
Then using 2 alum tubes to conduct the air from the TB opening
down into the remaining plenum.

I also found this, although I would never epoxy my intake.
