Default Front bumper and headlight assembly help

I need to replace the front bumper of my truck. It's a 96 2500, and I also would like to replace the headlight assembly. From the looks of it, I need to have the bumper off in order to replace the headlights as well. Also if I were to change the actual lights themselves once the new assembly is installed, would I need to take the bumper off again if it needs to be done?

According to popular theory, you don't have to take the bumper off to remove/install headlights..... it just makes it a LOT easier. Best bet would be to have all your parts ready to roll, and do it all at once.

Some of the bolts are in interesting places. I assume they are exactly like their half-ton brethren though.... Just getting the whole assembly out of there with the bumper attached is interesting.

Interesting is definitely the word for it. Its all about angles, squeezing, and a little bit of swearing, but it can be done without the bumper being off.

However, if you are going to replace the bumper anyway, I'd just get it all done in one swoop, like HeyYou suggested.

I looked at it today and it seemed like you would have to, or at least be easier

i took one lamp out the other day its is kind of tricky but yeah no more than 5 minutes just couldnt get a socket on lower outside bolt(use a wrench)then with hood up undo rubber weather strip and wiggle it out..

oh and there where only three bolts, i thought i missed one but its just a push pin clamp deal behind turn signal..

on a 1500 anyway should be about the same on yours..
