46RH trans.

Check fluid level. Make sure to check in Neutral. (doesn't read accurate in park)

Many Places. Good place to start, would be to read thru MonteC's transmission Corner in the FAQ section here. Also in the FAQ section, is J415's transmission thread, with helpful links for rebuilding.

Newer POS? Ill agree that these trannies are junk but it isn't all that new, The A518 is just an A727 with an OD unit attached. HeyYou is correct and the A518 you have is the 46RH so it has a governor no governor solenoid.

It is an easy rebuild if you know how to do the A727 as the entire front half is identical to the A727. It has a larger 2 piece valve body for the OD unit so more cleaning but nothing out of the ordinary. You can rebuild the OD unit yourself but you need to compress a large spring that holds the direct clutch. I just had a tranny shop rebuild my OD unit so I didn't have to mess with it and it cost me $75.

You can get a rebuild kit anywhere for the A518.

I suggest getting an ATSG manual.
