Leaf Springs
and traded in on a vehicle that gets 11 mpg.
I take offense to that, I work at a salvage yard. My 2000 Ram 1500 came from there and was fixed with "junk yard" parts. My wife's 99 Accord is salvage, I've had a 94 Dakota, 99 Cherokee, 98 Durango, 96 Grand Am, 2005 Yamaha R6, 98 Catera, and 91 CRX. All salvaged, fixed, driven, and resold at some point in time. There is nothing wrong salvaged parts. And a few of those to which I still own.
Yes tons of vehicles that are perfectly fine at the Junkyards. Your going to want to be picky with the condition of the truck you pull your parts off of. If you see a truck like below you don't want anything off it. But lots are down due to engine/transmissions. Just look for a truck in good condition. Some junkyards don't let you into the yard or some pre-pull the parts and you can't see what they come off of.
A good alternative option to Junkyards is www.craigslist.org tons of parting out vehicles and you can get cheep prices and see the truck.
Don't trust any parts that come off a truck like this, even though the back end looks good there still could be stress from the accident that you can not see.
