here one for ya
Is this the one youre referring to?

or maybe this one?

Just seems a little hoakie to me. The 'loss of power" through the magnaflow cat is insignificant. getting rid of the stock y-pipe will do more than gutting a cat anyday.

Factory cat has to last 8 years by federal law.
that means loading it with zirc, rhodium, platinum, and a pinch of bin ladens foreskin.Magnaflow only has to pull a two year hitch,so they just show a picture of that stuff to it.I love magnaflow converters, but I leave the bolts loose on em.

I just cut off the back half of my exhaust, removed the o2 sensors (don't wanna whack 'em), grabbed the longest tool I had (4 foot prybar) and rammed it in there. It will take a while to break it all up (took me about 4 hrs). Just start the truck periodically to blow all of the bits out. After I was finished, I welded my muffler back on.
Note that you will not pass a smog emission (hose up your exhaust) test, but you will pass a PCM specific (plug into obd 2) test. It would be best to find out what kind of emissions test your state/county does before gutting it.
Oh, and the catalyst medium (the stuff you're banging out) is coated in unburned hydrocarbons and other stuff that is very bad for you, so do your best not to breathe any of the dust created when you start the truck.

The stock catalytic converters in our years of trucks are NOT as good, performance wise, as the magnaflow high flow units. I've seen data from more than one test to prove they flow better, and on top of that, I can testify to the difference myself.
However, on the newer trucks (3rd gens, for example), their stock catalytic converters are already high flow, and an aftermarket high flow doesn't necessarily help or hurt their performance.
So maybe "out perform" to Mr. Muffler means last longer. OK, Ill buy that, but "out perform" as in real performance, the Magnaflow will win, but it has also been established youre only gonna get 2 years out of it not 8 and 80k miles. So buy 4 Magnaflows, get the performance you want and spend less than half the money.
