i let a friend use my truck and water pump went on him i think he drove a couple miles after the belt popped off.

anyway i put a new pump and thermostat and it seemed good no smoke, no oil in rad and no collant in oil but when i accelerate it knocks. when it idle it doesnt knock. this is a 1500 3.9 im not sure if i should just drive it and wait for it to totally go, replace the motor or maybe i could replace a bearing or somthing? i guess its tough for anyone to know without hearing it what the issue is.im not really a motor guy but it sounds like a bearing.

any advice appreciated. im guessing if i have the motor replaced theyd have to take down the transmission its an auto maybe if they did take it down to replace engine i should have preventative work done to trany?

this truck has 205k its an 01 but ran great befor this.

i didnt replace it. that would make it knock when accelerating?

 

Spark knock. Sounds like marbles in a tin can. Can you post a vid, with audio?
