Default operating temp

Hey everyone I have 94 ram with a 5.2 318 my engine temp is usually at around 210 I've nvr changed the t-stat is that good or bad ? An if I should change the t-stat to a 180. If so how much would it cost me an what changes should I expect in performance an fuel economy ?

Flush your cooling system really well first, and make sure you have the appropriate mix for your area. (yeah, florida. I am jealous. )

Lower temp thermostat won't give you any more performance, or better fuel economy.

These rigs usually ran at 200 I put a 180 in mine. Didnt see any performance or economy jumps either.

yeah mine is right at 200 degrees 180 tsat really isnt anything but a security blanket especially for us south florida people

IMO in the south a 180* t-stat releives undue pressure on the cooling system making for longer life of water pump and hoses, when I went to a 180* t-stat I saw a jump in mpg"but I also did the plenum and tune up" at the same time with a CIA so I can not say that it made any diffrence in comparison to everything else.
