high volume oil pump or not

If the engine is nice and tight, a high volume pump won't make any difference at all in oil pressure. But when things get sloppy it might happen that the standard volume pump just can't push enough oil to maintain proper pressure, and that's when the high volume pump will save the day and bring the pressure back up again -- because it can move enough oil to fill the gaps.

j415 thats a great video...pretty much summed it up. I got the h/v pump again just cause if i am gonna change it i wanna go with the best parts...

with 240xxx miles on original motor i wouldn't think she is to tight...she's prolly like a over worked **** star near retirement

my blueprinted pump came with a high pressure shim kit. with the kit installed it says 10-15 psi can be gained. still not sure if im going to install it or not.

Yours doesn't need it. After all, everything is brand new.

High pressure, no. high volume, yes. might even think about a deeper pan with more capacity on that 408.

HV does good things for internal cooling but watch your oil level closely. if you starve it the days over. deeper oil pan is not a bad combo with it.
I run HV in all my rebuilds.

ok got the pump in and my screen was clogged pretty darn bad...and oil pan was pretty nasty got it all cleaned up and now my oil pressure is about 70lbs at idle and hard on the skinny pedal she will top out the stock gauge...is that to much?
