High volume pump puts out... more volume.... So, in older engines, where clearances are getting to the upper limit of 'acceptable', you still maintain good oil pressure.

I put one in my truck, simply because I have 168K miles on it..... (that, and a certain person, that holds a grudge, dropped a rag into my motor while it was sitting at the shop, and it clogged my pick up tube.) Had to drop the pan anyway, so, figgered might just as well upgrade while I was in there.

i was not aware that increased volume translated to increased pressure?

yeah that part kinda confuses me cause i know there are high pressure pumps standard and high volume...but it kinda makes sense more volume means it pushes more oil so it should be more pressure
