Default The notorious transmission issues

I have a 95 Ram 1500 Long bed 2wd. I went to the store and back (right down the road) and I realized I had a fluid trail behind me ending in my driveway. Got underneath and it was tranny fluid coming out of bell housing access plate.took my thumbnail and pried a little bit and then it poured out. Thinking it is a pump seal but would like some opinions.

Hope its just the seal and your pump did not go bad and take out the seal.

I don't think you get much of a choice, gonna have to drop the trans, and look and see what happened.

Im in the middle of droppin the tranny right now. Is there any way to easily got to the top two bell-housing bolts? And I should be ok to not disconnect the torque converter from the flywheel right? And has anyone replaced one of these seals before? Directions?

take the t/c out with the trans. trying to put i back in that way is a major drag. there is also the potential for damage on removal.

You really should remove the torque converter. Since you are fixing the front seal anyway there is a high likely hood that you will damage the new seal when trying to get the tranny on the torque converter if you leave it attached to the engine.

To get top bolts out, leave the lower ones in and lower the tranny slightly. Use long extensions from the back of the tranny to get the top bolts out. Raise the tranny back up and support the motor. Then remove the lower bolts and remove the tranny.

No, not right. The converter stays stabbed to the transmission, period. Anything else is wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. Always and forever. wrong.
