Default Woohoo! Stupid (probably) question time...

I know you can change the track bar without jacking the truck up. Can you change the steering gear without jacking it up as well? The reason I ask is that my jackstands are about 40 miles away at the moment. I need to change all 4 tie-rod ends and the stabilizer.

Thanks!

Yep. Sure can. Might have to get serious with the tires to get things to line up nice though.

Actually, it went swimmingly. Pulled the old stuff off, set it up on the tailgate and built the new tie-rods and linkage to match before putting back in, so everything lined up peachy. Had some trouble setting up the new steering dampener. The one on the truck must have not been the original. Spacing was different and I had to re-adjust the bracket the shock mounts to on the tie rod out a couple of inches. I was bottoming out when turning right. Other than that I'm happy so far

So...
New Tie-Rods and (Rancho RS5000) Dampener...Done.
Track Bar Fix...Luke's Link in the mail.
New Front Shocks (Rancho RS5000)...Pick up tomorrow AM and install.
Replace Driver's side hub (bad bearing)...part sitting on my couch, maybe tomorrow.
Plenum Fix...Plate, new bolts, extra gasket, new plugs, synthetic oil & filter & misc. other stuff all ready to go...Maybe next week. Or the week after....
Haven't added it all up yet, but that's about $900.00 in parts and material so far. Still less than a car payment every month, but so much for the spray-in bedliner I was hoping for.

That's what I get for putting it off, I suppose.

Oh yeah, and...

Replace Heater Core...part in my closet, been putting it off...
Replace broken dash...Have had replacement dash leaning against the wall in my bedroom for a couple years, wife would love it if I'd get around to doing it...I suppose in conjunction with the heater core...
Replace back-up Aux lights...just bought new ones a couple hours ago.
Replace A/C Condensor...have new one in my back seat, need to get a disconnect tool.

Maybe I'll make a new thread.

Should of done the 1ton X-over set-up for the same amount or cheaper pending parts used. Get rid of the Y junk.

I've got a serious lack of a shop. It was simpler to do the original set-up than to fab up the 1 ton design.

Almost got the shocks done. Broke one of the shock tower bolts on the driver side. Now working on how to fix it. Grrr....
