Rear Main Seal
rebuild it? its a seal. a simple replacement is all thats necessary.
replacing the rear main seal and rebuilding the engine HARDLY go hand in hand.
replacing the seal involves removing the oil pan, oil pump, and rear main cap as well as loosening the 4th and 3rd mains enough to push the top half of the seal out of the block.
rebuilding the engine would require complete disassembly, hot tanking, decking and rehoning the block. inspection and reconditioning of rotating assembly. new bearings and rings. line hone mains. inspection and reconditioning of heads. the entire valve train is usually replaced, however you may consider some of it salvageable.

Yea you don't rebuild the rear main seal just replace it. I just had a new radiator, front crank seal, oil pan gasket, and rear main seal done on my 5.9 for $570.
Now for $50k I sure want to know what's going on under the hood hahaha

Not for nothing, but your all over the map. Why get your rear main seal replaced when you want to rebuild your motor? And why do you want to rebuild now? Is your motor busted?
