Default Timing Chain Slack

Hey ya'll, I replaced my timing chain yesterday, the old one had tons of slack, but the new one has a little, is that normal? Last year I did the timing chain in my 89' ram, it was super tight, it was a double roller deal though, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference? Anyway, any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

I measured the slack on the new timing chain, with the one side tight, had about 3/8in of play, if that helps determine if thats normal or not.

I've replaced the chain twice on my truck, both new sets were tight as hell and hard to get the sprockets on. Sure you got the correct part number?

Yeah, I'm sure it was the right number. It's alot better than the old one, so I ended up putting it on... hopefully it lasts a while. Thanks for the reply

you should have used a double roller and replaced the thrust plate with a tensioner
