Hello, newbie here! I picked up a distraught looking 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, Quad Cab, Laramie (It is pretty loaded), 4x4 a few weeks ago that was sitting in some guys back yard with a banged up front end and flat tire. The guy was a bit desperate to pay bills, so I gave him $700, he sold me the truck! It has 122,000 Miles on it, a clean title, and still had current tags. I have put another $800 or so into it, but still, $1500 is not bad! I am kind of a Craigslist junkie! Here are a few pics...

This is how I found it (Sorry, but it is the cell phone pic the he sent me)

Here is the front end...

The transfer case was toast, so I picked up another one at the pick-a-part for a couple hundy...

A thorough cleaning was in order...I detail cars on the side so this was just another day at the office...

I still have some minor body work to do, and I made a trade with a guy for a leather interior (custom... coming this summer), but here is the truck. BTW, I bought an old suburban that had a new set of tires to the tune of $840. The suburban blew the engine less that 100 miles after the new tires were installed, so I gave the guy $800 for the suburban, took the tires, and sold it for $900. Again, kind of a Craigslist junkie here!

By the way... I have a chance to buy a larger(36 gal?) fuel tank from a 1999. Will it fit?

Nice looking truck, and yeah, you got a great deal there.

Larger tank probably won't fit, they only came on the long-bed flavor trucks.

Welcome to DF.

Great deal and good job on the fix. Looks good. Now if only I could find some leather seats for mine.

The larger tanks will not fit, meant for long beds as HeyYou said.

However, with some modification, you may be able to get a 34 gallon tank from a 2500 short bed to fit. It was an option for the 2500 short beds, and their short beds are very similar to a 1500's short bed.
