Default Crazy Antifreeze Leak

Hey all,

I have a 99 ram 1500 318 4x4. On my way home one day about a month ago, i saw that my truck was over heating so i pulled over and saw i was low on coolant so i topped it off and saw that I was leaking antifreeze from near the water pump. So i went and bought a new pump and gasket and replaced it. About a week later it was leaking again from that area so I thought that maybe the gasket didnt set when i installed it so i bought a new water pump gasket and took extra care to let the RTV set up and that the gasket was perfectly alligned and all bolts torqued to spec this was two days ago.

Today I went to work and found a nice 12 inch diameter (approx) puddle of antifreeze under my truck. I do not believe that it is leaking from the water pump this time or possibly all along.

Where else could it be leaking. Also the lower rad hose and clamps were changed about 2 months ago when my Tstat was changed.

Any help on where it is leaking would be great. It seems to only leak once engine is warm

Did you change the bypass hose? Also I had this same problem with my truck. Turns out the thermostat housing bolts were bottoming out and not tighting all the way and blowing the gasket out. Just climb in the motor with a light and look around and see if you can tell where it's coming from.

Timing covers are notorious for leaking as well. That's what mine did. Blew out right at the top corner on the drivers side. Leaked bad enough that I stopped driving it till I could get it fixed.

At the auto parts store see if they have a radiator pressurize(not sure what the technical name is) you can borrow/rent. If not see if they have one cheap and buy it. You hook it onto the radiator fill neck where the cap goes. Once its hooked up you pump up the pressure and see where the leak is coming from.

I once had a pinhole leak in a bypass house that for the life of me I could not find(looked for about an hour). Hooked one of those up and found the leak in about 20 seconds
