Default Belt Squealing

I have a 1998 dodge ram 2500 and my belt is sqealing real bad. I did a search and found out about the sandpaper trick which seemed to quiet it down a little but also heard about a wooden stick trick which I couldnt find anything about. Does anybody know how this stick trick works? I assume I need to change the belt is this a really hard job?

I have never heard of the "sand paper" trick but you can try some belt dressing and spray on it. If that doesn't work I'd just replace it, except there not $20, more like $35 - $50 + tax.

Make sure your tensioner isn't seized.

Hey You is right. I just changed mine. 65 bucks and 15 minutes. I also changed the belt and lightly sanded any thing I could easily reach. Problem solved.
Dan.
